Your Complete Guide to Pottery Classes in West Hampstead
Plan Your Next Pottery Class with Our Latest Courses, Workshops and Practice Sessions
Summer is often the season when we finally find a little more time for ourselves. The longer days, warmer evenings and slower pace give us the opportunity to pause, reflect and start planning the months ahead. For many people, it’s also the perfect time to begin thinking about learning something new, rediscovering a creative hobby or making space for regular time away from the demands of everyday life.
If pottery has been on your mind for a while, there’s no better time to start planning your next creative adventure.
Whether you’re looking for a complete beginner’s pottery course, a pottery wheel throwing workshop, a one-day pottery experience or dedicated studio sessions to continue developing your skills, our West Hampstead pottery studio offers a welcoming environment for every stage of your creative journey.
This guide brings together all of our upcoming pottery classes, pottery wheel workshops and practice sessions, making it easy to explore everything that’s coming up over the next few months.
With August just around the corner, the studio will be taking its annual summer break throughout the entire month of August. We’ll reopen in the first week of September, ready for another fantastic creative season.

Thursday Five-Week Pottery Course
Designed Especially for Complete Beginners
Dates: Thursday 3 September – Thursday 1 October
Time: 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm
Price: £320
This five-week pottery course has been completely redesigned to encourage creativity and experimentation from the very beginning.
If you’ve never worked with clay before, this course provides the perfect introduction.
Rather than concentrating on just one technique, you’ll gradually discover several different ways of working with clay, building confidence week by week while exploring your creativity in a relaxed and supportive studio environment.
During the course you’ll discover:
Week One introduces pinch pots, one of the oldest and most enjoyable pottery techniques, helping you understand the behaviour of clay while creating your first pieces.
Week Two explores coiling, allowing you to build larger, more expressive forms while learning how structure and proportion work together.
Week Three introduces the pottery wheel, giving you your first experience of throwing clay and learning the essential techniques needed to centre and shape simple forms.
Week Four brings everything together. Using everything you’ve learned throughout the course, you’ll design and create your own personal project. We’ll work closely with every student individually, helping develop ideas, overcome technical challenges and encouraging creativity and personal expression.
Week Five is dedicated to glazing, where you’ll discover how colour, surface and finish transform your work before it’s fired and ready to collect.
By the end of the course, you’ll have experienced several of the fundamental pottery techniques, created a collection of finished ceramic pieces and gained the confidence to continue your pottery journey through our longer courses or Practice Sessions.
