If you've never worked with clay before, this is the perfect place to start.

Designed specifically for complete beginners, this five-week course introduces the fundamental pottery techniques in a relaxed and supportive studio environment. The course has been carefully structured to help you build confidence week by week, giving you the opportunity to explore different ways of working with clay before creating your own personal piece.

You'll discover both traditional hand-building techniques and the pottery wheel, developing practical skills while enjoying the creative process.

Course Structure

Week One – Pinch Pots
Learn one of the oldest and most versatile pottery techniques while creating your first ceramic pieces.

Week Two – Coiling
Explore how coils can be used to build larger forms and experiment with shape, proportion and texture.

Week Three – Introduction to the Pottery Wheel
Experience throwing on the wheel and create your first wheel-thrown piece with step-by-step guidance.

Week Four – Your Own Creative Project
Bring everything together by combining the techniques you've learned to design and create your own personal piece. You'll receive individual guidance throughout the session to help turn your ideas into finished work.

Week Five – Glazing
Apply coloured glazes to your work and learn how the glazing process transforms your pottery before its final kiln firing.

By the end of the course, you'll have created a collection of unique ceramic pieces while gaining a solid introduction to pottery and the confidence to continue your creative journey.
