About Ceramics Sculpture Studio
Ceramics Sculpture Studio is a pottery studio in West Hampstead, London, run by ceramic artist Cosmin Ciofirdel. The studio welcomes students at all stages, from complete beginners to more experienced makers, offering a thoughtful and supportive environment for learning and working with clay.
Classes and workshops focus on essential pottery skills, including hand-building techniques and wheel throwing. Each session follows a clear, structured approach, helping students build confidence and develop their practice step by step.
Housed in a historic Victorian warehouse, the studio forms part of the Kingsgate Workshops Trust, a long-established creative community in West Hampstead. The space provides a calm, inspiring setting dedicated to ceramic practice.

In 2025, Ceramics Sculpture Studio celebrated ten years of learning, creating, and inspiring through clay.
We’ve cultivated more than just a space for making pottery; we’ve built a welcoming ceramics community in London, where creativity thrives, connections are made, and people come together to explore the joy of working with clay.
The studio isn’t just about the ceramic pieces we shape; it’s about people. It’s about the quiet joy of making, the rhythm we all fall into when our hands meet the clay. It’s about discovery - those shared, meaningful moments when the material responds, when an idea begins to take form, when a simple lump of clay transforms into something uniquely personal.
Cosmin Ciofirdel
Founder, Ceramic Artist & Educator
Cosmin Ciofirdel is a London-based ceramic artist and educator with over two decades of experience working with clay. He studied Ceramics at the Faculty of Arts and Design in Timișoara, Romania, and is currently undertaking an MA in Ceramics & Glass at the Royal College of Art, London.
His artistic practice focuses on stoneware and porcelain vessels, exploring the relationship between form and colour. Combining technical knowledge with a considered approach to making, his work reflects a continuous process of experimentation, refinement and material exploration.
In 2015, Cosmin founded Ceramics Sculpture Studio, establishing a dedicated space for ceramic practice and education. Drawing on his extensive experience as a maker, he has developed a teaching approach centred on technical understanding, individual guidance and the importance of sustained practice.
Through the studio, he shares his knowledge of ceramics with students at different stages of their development, encouraging a deeper understanding of the material while supporting each individual's approach to making.
