Discover the excitement of mastering the pottery wheel in this welcoming six-week course, perfect for beginners through intermediate students eager to develop their throwing skills. Whether you’re new to wheel throwing or want to improve your technique, this class will guide you step-by-step.

Each session focuses on building your confidence and skill, with plenty of personal support in a small group (maximum 8 participants). You’ll learn how to throw basic forms like cups, mugs, and bowls, as well as essential studio practices like setting up your workspace, trimming, and preparing pieces for glazing.

What you’ll learn:

  • Fundamental wheel-throwing techniques

  • Throwing basic forms (cups, mugs, bowls)

  • Good studio practice including setup and cleanup

  • Trimming and preparing your work for glazing

Various glazing techniques to finish your pieces beautifully

What’s Included

– Up to 5kg of clay per session

– Use of tools, glazes, and kiln firings

– Keep up to 15 pieces (glaze-fired) at the end of the course

– Extra pieces: £35 flat fee for up to 5 additional pieces (same price whether you keep 1 or 5; size limits apply)

Complete beginners are welcome! We strongly recommend attending at least two throwing taster sessions before starting this class.

This class can be taken on its own or as part of a longer learning journey, with further studio sessions available for those wishing to continue.
