Shaping Vessels Masterclass
Shaping Vessels Masterclass is set to take place on 10th, 11th, and 12th October 2024.
Time:
Thursday 10 October: 11 am - 3 pm
Friday 11 October: 2 pm - 6 pm
Saturday 12 October 11 am - 3 pm
Following the incredible success of our previous jug and teapot masterclasses, this three-day event will focus on the techniques required to create tall, elegant vessels. In this masterclass, you will enhance your skills in shaping and narrowing the necks of your vessels, a technique many of our members have expressed interest in mastering.
What you will learn:
Building Taller Cylinders
Start by constructing taller cylinders, providing a solid foundation for shaping your vessel.
Moon Jar Curve Technique
Learn the intricate process of creating beautiful curves.
Narrowing Necks
Gain proficiency in creating narrow necks, an essential skill for crafting sophisticated and refined vases.
Design and Elegance
Focus on achieving a balanced and graceful design, transforming your pottery into exquisite works of art.
Our previous masterclasses on jug and teapot shaping have significantly improved our members’ pottery skills. Participants have shown remarkable progress in their daily practice, gaining confidence and a deeper understanding of various pottery techniques.
This masterclass is your opportunity to build on that success, refine your craft, and take your skills to the next level.
All levels are welcome! This class is designed for all levels students, provided you can throw a reasonably sized cylinder.
Please note that this masterclass does not include a glazing session. The pots you create in the studio will be glazed by us with your choice of either glossy transparent, glossy white, or matte white glaze. If you would like to glaze your pieces yourself with a different glaze, please let us know. You can then keep your work and glaze it at the end of your nine-week pottery class in your preferred color glaze.
